Ever since I saw Dr. Shefali on the Oprah Show so many years ago, I’ve been promoting her work and telling my friends with kids about conscious parenting. I love the dialogue that she’s helped to start and I’m so happy to see more and more people embracing the concept of conscious parenting.
As you may know, I’m also a meditation enthusiast. So when I found this video by Mama Katrine yesterday, I wanted to share it.
Even though I do meditation, I’m not your typical quiet yogi type. I do however, love being around people with the quiet energy of Mama Katrine. She has a calming presence and I imagine, that calm is great for her baby as well.
Watch as she shares her reasons for meditating and why she thinks it makes her a better parent.
Have you noticed…
Middle class American parents (most of the ones I know anyway), spend so much time working to get their children into great schools, working long hours to pay for said schools and to give their kids other advantages money can buy. It’s clear that they want to give their children a good foundation and to help them become confident successful adults.
Experts, like Dr. Shefali, is now telling us that being a calming presence as a parent, especially during children’s developmental years, can affect their confidence, impulse control, learning ability and success later in life just as much, even more, than those advantages money can buy.
It’s something to think about, isn’t it?
