The Gut Health Reboot

Estimated read time 2 min read

This is a growing trend in the health and wellness world, but it also happens to be important. It\’s a holistic way of thinking about digestive health that involves eating probiotic-rich foods, eliminating inflammatory foods, supplementing vitamins, and other lifestyle changes to achieve optimum gut health.

Many studies have shown its effectiveness in repairing impaired intestinal function. Here are some tips to help get you started on your gut health reboot:

Eat Probiotic-Rich Foods

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that live in the intestines and help maintain digestion. Eating foods rich in these beneficial bacteria such as yogurts, tempeh, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, and miso will give your digestive system a boost.

Avoid Inflammatory Foods

Foods like refined sugars, processed meats, alcohol, caffeine, and artificial sweeteners can be pro-inflammatory and weaken the lining of your stomach and cause a host of issues such as bloating or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Avoiding these foods can significantly improve your gut health.

Start Supplementing Vitamins

Supplements such as probiotics or fiber supplements may also be recommended depending on your individual needs. Before taking any supplements it is important to consult with a healthcare professional who can assess what type of supplement is best for you and which dosage is most effective for your individual situation.

Think Beyond Diet & Supplements

It\’s also important to take into account other lifestyle habits that may be affecting your gut health such as chronic stress or lack of sleep. Make sure you get enough restful sleep each night (at least 7 hours), exercise daily if possible, and practice yoga or mindful meditation techniques to reduce stress levels where possible.

Monitor Gut Health Progress

Once you have identified areas from which improvement would benefit your gut health journey – diet changes, lifestyle modifications, etc., make sure you monitor how things are progressing regularly by tracking food intake, any symptoms experienced after eating particular meals, etc. This will give you valuable insight into what kind of impact certain factors have on your body so we can further adjust your strategies.
